GENERAL COUNCIL
The members of the General Council closely collaborate with the Superior General in her work and they share with her the responsibility for the general welfare of the Congregation. Five members comprise the General Council.
The Assistant General is the Vicar of the Superior General and of the Congregation. She is responsible for religious discipline, observance of the rules, implementation of the pastoral plan and on-going formation in the congregation. She seeks to foster good relationship with the Salesians of Don Bosco, Daughters of Mary Help of Christians and other members of the Salesian Family. Whenever the Superior General is absent or unable to attend to her office, the Assistant General acts in her stead in matters pertaining to the ordinary governance of the Congregation. In the General Council, the first Councilor to be elected is the Assistant General. Sr. Mary Perunilam
The General Councillor for Formation makes the visitation to formation houses and meets the formators and those in formation. She is also responsible for the updating of the Formation Directory whenever it is required and co-ordinates the Vocation Promotion ministry. She takes special care of Junior Sisters and those preparing for the perpetual profession. She will give particular attention to the formation imparted in the novitiate. She follows with care the different phases of the initial formation to ensure that the content, arrangements of studies, formation methods and structures provide the conditions necessary for growth in our way of life. The General Councilor for Formation also animates and promotes the initial formation in the Congregation, through formation teams and core groups of the Provinces.
Sr. Nancy Augustine
The General Councillor for Evangelization coordinates and evaluates the Provincial Councillors for Evangelization, various core-teams, touring Sisters, YAC animators annually and YAC Office – bearers once in two years. She maintains the record of the entire work of evangelization in the congregation. She keeps in touch with the Sisters by sending out periodical information with regard to the activities of missionary evangelization in the congregation. She periodically organizes seminars and special courses for the congregation on matters related to evangelization and catechises. The General Councilor for Evangelization also fosters missionary spirit and commitment throughout the Congregation. She is responsible for the animation of the primary Charism and mission of the Congregation.
Sr. Christine Mynsong
The General Councillor for Social Apostolate coordinates the efforts of the Provinces, both individual initiatives and collective efforts, facilitates the formulation of collective policies and creates a climate of team work. Her general role will be co-ordination, facilitation and collaboration with all social centres and units in the congregation and in the countries we work. She also takes care of the Health Ministry, developmental works and the empowerment of people. She animates and coordinates the Core Teams for social action. (C 165 2004). The General Councilor for Social Apostolate also takes care of the health ministry, developmental works and the empowerment of people. She animates and coordinates the core teams for Social Action.
Sr. Rose Paite
The General Councillor for Education coordinates the core teams for education in the Provinces, visits the schools once in two years, animates teachers and ensures the maintenance of school records. She is also responsible for the Boarding houses and coordinates school activities, programmes for non-formal education, Past Pupils’ Association, Scouts and Guides, Junior Red Cross and other similar associations and movements. She helps the headmistresses to organize in-service training programmes for the teachers of MSMHC schools. The General Councilor for Education is also entrusted with the responsibility of the educational ministry of the Congregation.
Sr. Jane Francis
The Economer General, in consultation with the Superior General and the General Council, administers those goods, which do not belong to any particular house, but to the whole congregation. She studies with the help of the finance committee, matters concerning the temporal administration, submits projects and accounts; presents the annual budget of the Generalate and of the provinces to the General Team and implements its decisions. It is her duty to guide the administration of the temporal goods of the provinces so as to ensure sound management. (C168) The Economer General maintains records of the movable and immovable property owned by the congregation with their approximate value, as well as copies of important documents relating to the financial transactions of individual houses. (C.169)
Sr. Ancilla Jose
She shall offer advice to the provincial and house Economer on the administration of temporal goods and on the maintenance of records. (R.239) Once a year she shall animate the provincial Bursars with the help of competent resource persons. (R 241) The Economer General on behalf of the Congregation takes care of the following: a) Alienating, exchanging, mortgaging or renting of any property. b) Contracting loans with or with out mortgage. c) Accepting inheritance or donations to which obligations are attached. d) Constructing new buildings, demolishing or making major alteration to existing ones. (R.242) .
