MSMHC Reaching out to the unreached: New Mission opened in Papua New Guinea

Papua New Guinea mission opens a new horizon to the MSMHC. After a long waiting, two courageous, young, vibrant, passionate Missionary Sisters, Sr. Mini Joseph of Tinsukia and Sr. Lapynshai Kongwir of Shillong set sail their journey for Papua New Guinea. They started from India on 19th April 2022, halted in Kolkata for 2 days and then boarded the flight to Singapore, then to Port Moresby. And finally on 23 April 2022 Sr. Mini Joseph and Sr. Lapynshai Khongwir the pioneering MSMHCs landed in Papua New Guinea, the land of the unexpected.

The sisters were warmly received at the Jackson airport Port Moresby by Rev. Fr. Srimal Silva SDB the administrator of the province. At present the sisters are accommodated at the Emmaus Conference Centre, Taurama Road, East Boroko (National Capital District). It is a centre for corporate event, workshop, seminars, private and group retreats. They are in the diocese of Port Moresby at Sabama Parish looked after by the Salesian fathers. The sisters are engaged in the pastoral activities mainly family visits, catechetical instructions and systematic follow up of different age groups in their faith formation, care for women association, etc... Besides, Sr. Lapynshai Khongwir teaches in the Elementary informal school for the slum children, to prepare them for the formal education at Gabutu and Sr. Mini teaches in the Higher Secondary School at Gabutu and DBTI at Boroko East.
